Family with children escape from the chaos
We loved watching the rock climbers scale those steep cliffs while we relaxed on the beachfront. The staff greeted us with big smiles and were super helpful.
It wasn't exactly cheap but still okay for what we got.

Very well maintained building and rooms with nice view of greenery. Stunning and favourable location within walking distance of Tonsai Beach.
Not particularly friendly staff!

The employees were very friendly and kept it all neat. The food was outstanding and the bar was excellent.
Though everything was really perfect, some of the staff were poorly trained.

It was just a fine choice for a stopover in Tonsai Beach with best value. The staff was super friendly, always cute me with a huge smile. A tip for future visitors is to plan activities around the limited electricity hours.

Tonsai Bay Resort is quieter than it's neighbours on Railay Beach, with less tourist and long boat traffic. The food was exceptionally cheap and authentically delicious and there are several restuarants and bars to choose from, although most have the same reggae/rasta theme. The staff do not have great English but are helpful (contrary to other reviews) if treated with respect. The electricity does switch off from about 2pm - 5pm, but otherwise we were comfortable in our air conditioned bungalow; the beds were very comfortable and the linen clean and fresh.
Accessible only by boat, Tonsai Bay is definitely backpacker friendly. I travelled with a medium suitcase weighing about 25 kilos, however getting it across beaches and onto boats etc was a bit of a mission. Going to/from the bay at high tide is best, otherwise it's a trek over rocks and mud. Also, the longer you stay at Ao Nang before getting the long boat back to Tonsai in the evening, the more you fork out for the journey. From 80 baht one way during the day, to 900 baht at 9pm in the evening (when there is less chance of forming the group of 8 the boatmen like to carry). There are two ATM machines at Railay Beach - accessible by foot at low tide from Tonsai (unless you're a rock climber and take the more challenging jungle path).

the setting is stunning and amazing, right by the airport, the boats, big room, big bed, relaxing beach, restaurant and breakfast and a lovely beach bar where all climbers gather to look at other climbers and enjoy a beer.

A Perfect Getaway for Adventure Seekers
Staying here was a breath of fresh air! I loved exploring the hidden hippy village just steps away. The longtail boat rides were fun, offering fine views. I recommend trying the fresh coconut drinks on the beach. My solo adventure exceeded my expectations!

The room was supervery comfy and tidy, with amazing views of the cliffs. The staff was friendly and helped arrange a kayak trip to explore the sea caves nearby.
breakfast options were limited and repetitive.

Nice place and good breakfast Lloc maco i l'esmorzar esta be.
There is no wifi, no towels to go to the beach, the location is not in Railey and is not easy to go and come to Railey because of the tides. You cant stay in Railey after 20:00 because later you are not able to go back to the hotel. We would recommend other cheaper bungalows in Tonsai.

The beach is beautiful with fine views and great. The food quality at the restaurant could definitely improve. Canoeing opportunities nearby add to the fun, but be cautious about the longtail boat access, especially at low tide.

The room was lovely, and if you like rock climbing, Tonsai beach is definitely the place to stay.
We had a bit of a surprise when we returned to the room at about 3pm to discover that the power was shut off and would not be switched back on until 5pm. Thus... no air conditioning.

Boat trips to the islands, and snorkeling
Disappointed that the beach was so rocky. Had to walk round or get a longtail boat round to Railay

Location right by tonsai beach and the beach bars. Rooms are basic but pleasant.

Amazing view and friendly staff!
The location is fantastic, right beneath those excellent limestone cliffs, providing fine views of the bay. The staff were pretty good, accommodating us , and the breakfast was good with a variety of fresh options. The shower setup was a bit unconventional, as it had no separation from the toilet, which took some getting used to.
